Things we need to add to That Kid's prayer...

The biggest thing.....to help him stop biting. :'(

He apparently bit THREE separate kids at VBS last night. I truly don't know what to do with him. And I also don't know why he wasn't removed from the classroom after biting ONE person. Really. I have told him tonight is his last chance. If he is naughty again, I will be calling That Dad and having him come pick That Kid up.

I don't like That kid being...well...THAT Kid. The kid that everyone dislikes. That Kid is a wonderful, sweet, caring boy. He has some delays, and we need to figure out how to work with them...but I really thought the biting phase would be outgrown by now. I know That Kid isn't the first child to bite. I know That Kid isn't biting maliciously, he's biting in retaliation. There is a difference. He doesn't bite (as far as I know) when he wants something someone else has, he bites when someone tries to take a toy from him that HE is playing with.

Last night when we got home, I cried. For quite a while. That Kid saw me crying, and climbed up in my lap. I told him I was crying because he made my heart very, very sad. He got off my lap and sobbed. Threw himself at That Dad's feet and just sobbed. He said, "Mama heart hurt so so bad. I so so sorry Mama!" He's remorseful. He knows when he bites it makes me sad. Yet, he cannot stop. As many different things as I have tried, he won't stop. I just don't know what to do with my little vampire...

"He loves his Mom! He runs to her after school!"

On Friday, That Kid bit another little boy at school. I didn't find out about it until TUESDAY. Four days later. Why I wasn't called Friday afternoon, or at all on Monday, I don't know.

Tuesday after school, I saw the father of the child That Kid bit. I went up and said, "Are you kid That Kid bit's Dad? I'm That Kid's Mom." And then, through my tears, proceeded to tell him how sorry I was. He was pretty cold (he did say thank you, but was just kind of disconnected), and made me feel like poop. Turns out that's just him. He went home and told his wife I apologized, and cried, and today they both came to school to talk to me.

Ugh. I cried some more. And since That Dad was at work, I felt ganged up on. They were kind, but it's still uncomfortable when there are two people talking to ONE of you.

The mother was very nice, and she said that her son didn't want That Kid to get in trouble, and that's why he didn't say anything at school. He told her, "But he loves his Mom so much! He runs to her after school!" I'm not sure what that has to do with him getting in trouble or not (I wonder if he thought if That Kid got in trouble he wouldn't love me as much?), but thought it was the sweetest thing I have ever heard.

Edward he's not...

About three weeks ago, That Kid started biting. Of course he'd bitten before; earlier in the year he left a real nice bruise on my leg where the little vampire bit me. However, now he's biting other kids.

He has bitten two kids at church, and two kids at school, and tried to bite two more kids at school. I just don't know what to do.

I don't mind being That Mama when it comes to sweets, and tantrums, and over-buying at CHRISTmas...but I'm not going to be That Mama who's kid bites. Who has parents run in the other direction when That Kid walks towards their pwecious kids. Thankfully, That Kid's school has a policy about biting...they won't tell me who That Kid bit, and they won't tell the other mother who bit their child. I wish our church had the same policy. It would make my life so much easier!
