Not me Monday
I am not, and I repeat NOT sitting in the living room, in the dark, eating chocolate chip pecan sandie cookies and watching The Bachelorette while That Kid chases That Dog around the living room. And I do not hope that Jillian picks Ed. Nope...not me...not at all!

So...about that big boy bed...
It has ruined my life. Really.
Night 1 - Didn't sleep in the bed. Kept getting up. I kept putting him back *in* the bed a'la Supernanny, he kept getting out. Finally, I decided I was going to sit by him until he fell asleep (again, a'la Supernanny)...except I fell asleep on the floor. That Kid took that opportunity to get out of bed and run around trying to catch "beebles" (bugs) for his bug house. That Dad came upstairs when he heard me yelling at That Kid for trying to catch a pincher bug. That Kid ended up sleeping in our bed that night. I love when he sleeps with us...That Dad and I each get about 1/8th inch of mattress while That Kid and That Dog get the rest of the queen sized bed!
Night 2 - That Kid spent his afternoon nap in the bed, so I just knew if I put him in there asleep he would sleep in his bed! I decided I would rock him to sleep. Since he had a late nap and didn't wake up until 6:30, then had a late dinner, he had a late bed time. At 10:45 I started rocking him. At 11:15, I had him almost asleep, so I went and laid him down in the bed. He got up. Took him back out to the living room and rocked him some more. Fought with him. Took off my shirt because he spit milk out of his mouth all over me (he was trying to be a fountain...funny...). Rocked him some more. Sang him his night night song ("Night night, night night, time for sleep, time for sleep! Night night, night night, close your eyes go to sleep!" Lather, rinse, repeat until child is asleep. I got it from Yo Gabba Gabba, but they sing "nap time" instead of night night.)...it didn't work. He kept sitting up to touch my eyes. Finally, at 12:40 he went to sleep. Slept until 8:30. I was thrilled.
Night 3 - Didn't take a nap, fell asleep during dinner around 7:30. I put him in his bed, and he stayed there. Until 3:30. Unfortunately That Dad is working nights for the next two weeks, covering for someone on vacation. So when That Kid came and got in bed with me, I thought he'd go right back to sleep. Nope. Not even for a minute. He turned on the "T" (TV) looking for "Goggin" and "Kinekines" (Noggin and Little Einsteins). Found some Jack Hanna animal show and watched that, then watched America's funniest videos and was laughing at all the animal videos. Then it was 5:00. He figured how to turn the channel to Noggin, and watched that for a while. At 6:00 That Dad came home from work and found That Kid on the kitchen floor playing. Put That Kid in bed with me, he screamed and threw a fit and locked the bedroom door. Then he unlocked the bedroom door and decided Noggin wasn't good enough, he wanted to watch something else, so he turned on the TV in the living room where he found "MANNY! HANNY MANNY!!!!!!!!" (Handy Manny). That Dad told me to just try to get some more rest and said he would watch That Kid. I finally had my first uninterrupted sleep since 3:30...and got to sleep until 8:30 when I would usually wake up to go to church. Decided not to go to church because...That Kid finally fell back to sleep while eating his breakfast. He's back in his big boy bed....and I'm going to go fold laundry. Yea.

That Kid got a big boy bed!!!
While I was in California, That Dad got a phone call from the Bullseye Store. Turns out the crib we bought three years ago was recalled. That Dad made a phone call, and found out that if we took our crib back to the store, we'd get a full refund. We'd be stupid to not take the crib back, even though That Kid was ready for a toddler bed, right?? To be fair, he *was* still sleeping in the crib.
So yesterday, That Dad broke down the crib and we took it back...they gave us a hard time because we didn't have the receipt (who would still have the receipt after THREE YEARS?!?) and no one there had heard about the recall (don't you think they would check the website daily and post things like this in the employee break room?!?) and so we had to wait around while they figured out what to do. Frustrating. Thankfully, That Kid had his new favorite snack, raisins, with him and that kept him happy.
Finally, we got the gift card and went on a search for a bed. Funny thing, the Bullseye store doesn't carry toddler beds in store. Online only. Ended up going to a different store where they had the caaaaautest Cars bed with a toybox and table and chairs. Sure we had to pay out of pocket for it, but we can use the gift card for groceries and things like that! :)
Spent last night putting the bed together...what a pain! At one point That Dad and I were trying to put it together and That Dad was using the rubber mallet and taking out his frustrations. :) Turned out OK though, because That Kid's bed was ready to go by bedtime!!! He didn't sleep in it...but it was ready! Tonight we're going to try harder! :)

Not me Monday
~I did not have a detailed discussion with my husband Saturday night about gay porn. We did not discuss why guys think it's totally hot to watch two girls together, but girls wouldn't be as interested in watching two guys together, and the conversation did not end with my husband saying, "No, I wouldn't want to watch Jordan Knight with another guy, but if he was with a smokin' hot chick I wouldn't mind watching that!" Nope, that wasn't me! NOT ME!!
~I did not get bit in the face by That Kid on a trip to the Children's Museum after That Kid was upset about not getting to play with the trains anymore. I did not cry because That Kid bit me, I did not cry because I was embarassed. I did not pull That Kid's hair until he quit biting my face, and I absolutly did not wish I could leave him there! That wasn't me, so don't think it was!
~Finally, I did not allow That Kid to eat M&Ms at That Papa and That Grandma's house for breakfast. That wasn't me...not me at all!

As promised, pictures from our night last night. Vacation pictures are still on hold. Crunchy Mama, Buggy Mama and I all had a fabulous time seeing.......................................................
NEW KIDS ON THE BLOCK
It was amazing. I saw them with Crunchy Mama in November, and Buggy Mama was jealous, so she came for this show. Seeing them in an outdoor venue was sweet! Without further adieu, pictures from our amazing night!!!

Home sweet home!!!
We made it home last night, about midnight. Been trying to get caught up on stuff, while That Kid does lovely things like spray Windex on the floor in the kitchen. When I slipped and fell, at least he had the decency to ask, "You OK, Mama?" and say, "Sahddy Mama!" and give me kisses when I told him I was indeed *not* OK! Even when he's bad, he's still sweet!!
Tonight, Mama Buggy and my other friend Crunchy Mama and I are all going to a concert. Check back in later this week for pictures of our night out!!!

Adventures with That Mama on vacation!!!
So...today is...oh...day 9 I think. So far we have spent time on the beach with our family at a picnic (pretty fun...we saw someone get handcuffed. Upon further inspection - i.e. a younger cousin "forgetting" her jacket in the car near where the guy was handcuffed - we discovered that he had stolen a SAND DOLLAR off the beach. It was a National Park. He also stole some pinecones, I think. Lame.), we went to a lame Independence Day parade (we went last year, too. Could have just stayed home...same stinkin' parade!), and had a birthday BBQ for my cousin Sister Smokes-a-Lot (her birthday is July 4, I always thought she was soooooo cool for having her birthday on Independence Day!), and set off some fireworks.
That Kid *hates*, and I repeat *hates* fireworks with a passion larger than most city displays. He cried. He screamed. He covered his ears and sobbed into That Papa's shoulder. He ended up inside watching Happy Feet. Fabulous. His two cousins joined them, and they had a grand old time.
So...when you're with That Grandma and That Papa, some pretty cool things happen. You get to eat M&Ms for breakfast. You get to eat canned whipped cream out of your hand for lunch. Several handfuls, in fact. You get to play in a giant froggy pool. You get to see dinosaurs!!!! RAWR!!!!!!
The trip getting here was pretty smooth, too! We drove from Denver to SLC - that took 13 hours with all the stops we had to make and all the getting lost that happened, and then left SLC at 6am Mountain time. At Midnight Pacific time, we pulled into That Grandma and That Papa's driveway. Four kids, three adults, and a total of 30 hours driving. That Kid had a lot of fun with the Buggy Kids....he got to watch DVDs until he fell asleep every day, he got tons and tons and tons of snacks, and he got to play with the kids. And we get to do it all over again on Monday.
Pictures will be posted when I get home...they will be plentiful.
