It's amazing how quickly they grow up

Shed a tear, That Kid is grown up enough to make his own sandwich.

Last night, I babysat for Crunchy Mama's six great kids. She and Crunchy Dad recently acquired a foster baby; Baby S is about 6 weeks old or so. She weighs just over 6 pounds. Teeny tiny. She was (I think) 3 pounds 12 ounces at birth, so she's gained quite a bit. I enjoyed snuggling Baby S, and Baby E (The Crunchy bio-baby; she's 7 months), and the other three Crunchy Kids were great, too! Oh...four, if you count the 16 year old. ROFL He was a great help!

So, since I was hanging with the Crunchies last night, That Dad and That Kid stayed home and hung out. When I got home, That Dad told me what That Kid had for dinner. He started out with 1/2 a PB&J, and an apple. Then he decided he wanted an orange, so he had one of those, too. That Dad went from the kitchen into the dining room for a second, and when he came back he discovered That Kid had taken a chair and moved it over to the counter, got a knife and a two pieces of bread, then spread yogurt on the bread. Then he asked for more peanut butter and jelly, which That Dad gave him. He ate the whole thing. Apparently, it was quite tasty...he was trying to get me to let him have another one when I got home at 10:15.

Tiny Town, and a haircut!

Today, we went to Tiny Town. It was started in 1915, by a man who lived in the hills with his family. He started the town by building doll houses for his daughter. The original buildings are all destroyed, but there are lots of newer buildings. The oldest one they have now is from the 1930's.

It was a fairly good day. That Kid only had two meltdowns...one when he wanted to ride the train, and one when he was eating ice cream and got STICKY STICKY STICKY!!!
That Kid and me in front of a tiny Thomas the Tank Engine car...I love his expression!
Favorite picture of the day! Taken inside the Tiny Town Jail, appropriately!
That Family, getting ready for the train ride. Look carefully for That Kid...he's hiding!
This is when the second meltdown started...STICKY STICKY STICKY!!!!!!!

After Tiny Town, we went for a haircut. That Kid hasn't had a professional hair cut since February. That Dad would just trim his bangs and ear hair while That Kid slept in his highchair. So, we were coming back down the hill, and That Kid fell asleep. Went to the kid's salon, there was no wait, and they were willing to cut his hair while he was sleeping. Unfortunately, he woke up. But, he's super cute now!!! And no one is going to say, "She's fast!" as he goes running by anymore!! :)

Basement adventures with That Dad

That Dad hangs out in the basement. It's his choice, I did not ban him to the basement. But, that's where he keeps his man stuff. OK, yeah, it's his man cave.

The man cave is spider filled. These huge red spiders. They are of the devil (that's why they're red, you know!).

So, I'm talking to That Dad this morning, and a jumping spider hops on the brim of his hat. He freaks. And after he kills the spider, he then proceeds to tell me about the spiders from a couple days ago. Apparently, there were two large red spiders (the biggest spider's That Dad has seen all season, allegedly!) in his shower. He said they were chasing each other around like they were playing with each other. I've never speen spiders play with each other, but whatever. It's possible, I suppose. So, what did That Dad do?? What any good man would do...he got his "spider killing gear". Apparently that's a bottle of shower cleaner, and the hand held shower head. He said he sprayed these spiders with shower cleaner, then scalded them with hot water until they started twitching...then he smashed them. Then he left the bathroom.

Upon leaving the bathroom, he notices another spider on the wall. And the spider notices him, as well! The spider sees That Dad, and upon seeing him JUMPS OFF THE WALL and starts running toward That Dad. That Dad said, "And I see this spider running toward me and I start thinking, 'WTF, did I just kill your parents or something?!?' and I killed that one, too!"

Ladies, I know you're jealous...not every husband can kill THREE spiders in a matter of minutes. But keep your hands off...he's mine! And I really wish I had known he was killing these spiders, I would have liked to have pictures of the event!

That Kid got a big boy bed!!!

While I was in California, That Dad got a phone call from the Bullseye Store. Turns out the crib we bought three years ago was recalled. That Dad made a phone call, and found out that if we took our crib back to the store, we'd get a full refund. We'd be stupid to not take the crib back, even though That Kid was ready for a toddler bed, right?? To be fair, he *was* still sleeping in the crib.

So yesterday, That Dad broke down the crib and we took it back...they gave us a hard time because we didn't have the receipt (who would still have the receipt after THREE YEARS?!?) and no one there had heard about the recall (don't you think they would check the website daily and post things like this in the employee break room?!?) and so we had to wait around while they figured out what to do. Frustrating. Thankfully, That Kid had his new favorite snack, raisins, with him and that kept him happy.

Finally, we got the gift card and went on a search for a bed. Funny thing, the Bullseye store doesn't carry toddler beds in store. Online only. Ended up going to a different store where they had the caaaaautest Cars bed with a toybox and table and chairs. Sure we had to pay out of pocket for it, but we can use the gift card for groceries and things like that! :)

Spent last night putting the bed together...what a pain! At one point That Dad and I were trying to put it together and That Dad was using the rubber mallet and taking out his frustrations. :) Turned out OK though, because That Kid's bed was ready to go by bedtime!!! He didn't sleep in it...but it was ready! Tonight we're going to try harder! :)

So I'll have one more post, one from the past...not for the weak

So...today. Today was...interesting. Today I was trying to get ready to meet the other girls from my Moms group for lunch at Chick-fil-a. Have I spoken about my love for Chick-fil-a? No? Well, let's just sum it up like this...I like Chick-fil-a. I even took a job application from Chick-fil-a today. Anyway...That Kid and I are getting ready. I'm dressed and have my make-up on, and I need to get That Kid dressed. I chase him around the bedroom for a while, and finally get him on his way to the living room. Where I discover a huge pile of dog puke. I call That Dad, and told him he could either change That Kid, or clean up puke. He actually took door number 2, saying that I was much better at changing That Kid. I wish he'd taken door number 1. Really, I do.Upon taking off That Kid's PJs, I discovered that his diaper had fallen off. No biggie, usually. But not this time. This time he had pooped. And I was wishing I could be cleaning up dog puke. Cleaning up dog puke is so much nicer than trying to scrub poop off your wiggling child. At least dog puke doesn't wiggle (generally)! That Dad, being the great daddy he is, came over to assist with the clean up. He held a bag for me to toss wipes in while making comments like, "If Johnny Knoxville were standing by the door, I'd think we were on WILDBOYZ!" But no, Johnny Knoxville wasn't standing by the door. It was just us. In our stinky living room.I got That kid's PJs totally off, and well, it wasn't pretty. His socks were ruined. He didn't want to let me clean him up. As I'm trying to clean him up, he's screaming and yelling. And kicking. And I was dodging poopy legs trying to hit me. Finally, the poopster was clean. He got his pants and shirt on, and while I was searching for his socks (which had gotten lost in the whole Poopfest '09), he jumped down to "help" That Dad pick up his poopy jammies. That Kid's, not That Dad's. ;) He found something on the floor and tried to eat it. I'll leave you with That Dad's words of advice to That Kid..."Dude, that might of come out of your @$$. Things that come out of your @$$ do NOT go in your mouth!"
