"Don't you watch the news while you're gone?"

Yesterday, That Dad and I were having a discussion about the rest of our trip. We're going on a boat ride, and That Dad said, "I sure hope they're safer than the Duck Boats!"

I said, "What happened on the Duck Boats?" "What do you mean, 'What happened on the Duck Boats?'? In New York, one crashed into a barge and sank. There were 30 people in the water, and 2 died! Don't you watch the news while you're gone? You probably don't even know about Lindsay Lohan's finger!"

"What about Lindsay Lohan's finger?" I answered. "OH MY GOSH...You don't know about Lindsay Lohan's FINGER?!? Did you know she's going to jail?" "Of course I know that, I do read celebrity news online while I'm here!!"

A few minutes later, this conversation came up. "What's going on in Oakland? It says,'Oakland Riots' are trending on Yahoo right now. What are they rioting about in Oakland?" "You're kidding me...you don't know what's happening in OAKLAND? You really DON'T watch the news, do you?" "No honey, I get my news from the internet. If it's not on facebook, I don't see it!"

You know...it's nice to be oblivious. If something major happened, I would know...but I really, really like not having the news shoved in my face every day. I'll get back to my news life when I get home. But for now, who cares about Lindsay Lohan and her finger!! All I want to know about is K8 Gosslin's botched botox. Have you seen her? She looks like a circus freak. :) I mean, she looks like a bigger circus freak than she normally does.
